Help!

This question is actually for Dan's class so those of you that have already had him can really help.  We are doing the project right now that you have to create your own 9 characters.  I need to know how to create the grid on the computer.  He said you start by making the grid on your computer and then use it to finish your designs. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to make a grid that won't print so PLEASE help if you know! Thanks so much!

  2. Guys, c'mon, you know how to do this. We did it in our InDesign project. Remember when you measured your catalog layouts? Pull ruler lines down from the ruler at the top or side of your InDesign or Illustrator file. By default, guidelines don't print. If you actually draw lines in your file, they will print.
Hey everyone else, help 'em out.
We can do this on Wed night too, if it's not too late for you.

  3. That's not entirely how we did it for Dan's stuff, Peder. It's mostly supposed to be something that CAN print, particularly when doing roughs.

Anyone who wants- I can show you what my grid looked like tomorrow. It's really just a matter of using Illustrator's grid snapping to help you define where to put lines, circles, what have you.

  4. I talked to someone who did it at the beginning of the semester. She said to do the grid as a layer of its own and just use the regular shape tools then create new layers for your design and then when you go to print it, just don't print the grid layer.

  5. I'm not sure if this is what you are trying to do but there is an option to make a layer not print but it is still visible in your document. If you make your grid on a bottom layer and have your other layers you want to print above it you can double click on your grid layer and in the dialog box there is a check box that says print. Uncheck it.
